This special day on the calendar is dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and bravery of Australian and New Zealand soldiers, as well as our equine heroes who have fought in wars and conflicts. 

ANZAC Day Race Day is headlined by the Listed VRC St Leger (2800m) for three-year-olds, a race older than the Lexus Melbourne Cup that includes champion winners like Phar Lap and Tulloch.

Mounting Yard Ceremony

A traditional ANZAC Day Ceremony will take place in the Mounting Yard at 2:55 pm allowing racegoers to pay their respects to current and former service personnel. The ceremony will include the laying of the wreath, The Last Post, a minute's silence, the playing of The Rouse and performances of the Australian and New Zealand National Anthems. 

Two-Up

A time-honoured tradition at Flemington, Two-Up will once again be back for ANZAC Day Race Day.  Hear the historic 'Come in spinner' poem recited before the first spin at 12:30 pm on the Flemington Lawn. 

ANZAC Appeal Pins

Buy an ANZAC pin from the Watsonia RSL sellers located at entry points and roaming across the course throughout the day to support the ANZAC Appeal. 

Plant a Poppy

The red poppy is recognised as a commemorative flower of remembrance, reminding us of those who lost their lives or suffered in wars. For a gold coin donation, racegoers will be able to 'plant' a poppy on The Front Lawn creating a beautiful poppy installation with proceeds supporting the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund.

Flemington Family Lawn

Bring the kids and head to the Flemington Family Lawn where there will be the opportunity for kids to create their own poppy and write a letter to a current service man or woman. There will also be an array of lawn games, face painting and the annual tug of war with jockeys and the kids. 

Saintly Place Sports Bar

The air-conditioned sports bar comes alive with bar sports, betting facilities, live racing on TV, refreshing drinks, and takeaway food.  Settle in or grab a drink - there's also seating in the Beer Garden at the top of the steps over the Front Lawn.
